Our Vision
[Transcript] Today, we’re introducing Sign AI—a project to create the world’s largest model of American Sign Language (ASL). Our goal is to capture ASL in all its depth, complexity, and beauty—ensuring it is fully represented in the AI revolution.
ASL deserves a place in the emerging world of Large Language Models (LLMs). By building an advanced ASL model, we can expand access, communication, and opportunities for sign language users everywhere.
This project is a true partnership between Deaf and hearing experts across multiple fields—AI, ASL, Linguistics, Deaf culture and education, and Sign Language Interpreting. We build upon the long history of sign languages around the world, from the Plains Indians to the historic collaboration between Laurent Clerc and Thomas Gallaudet, who played a pivotal role developing ASL in the 19th century. Now, in the 21st century, we are working hand-in-hand to ensure ASL is part of the AI revolution with Deaf experts leading the way.

First: Sign AI will make sure that ASL is a part of the AI revolution. Right now, AI is transforming everything—but ASL is barely a part of the conversation outside the Deaf community.
Second: The Sign AI model will enable exciting new capabilities such as real-time, bi-directional interpretation when a human interpreter isn’t available.
Third: We’re creating jobs for Deaf professionals. High-tech, high-growth careers in all areas of the company from engineering and product to operations, marketing, and sales. Our goal is to build the best team possible and create a deaf-friendly, ASL-first startup environment.
Fourth: We're making models royalty free exclusively for Deaf Business Owners building products or services for the Deaf community. We hope this model will spawn a new generation of Deaf entrepreneurs using AI for the community.
